Enough has been said and written about the benefits of mapping your data. With Grid's precise location capturing, the ability to create real-time maps adds a huge benefit. Let's see how you can add maps to your dashboards-
  • Go to your dashboard. To create a map, you must be in edit mode.

  • Click the "Add widget" button and select "Map" on the types of widget view.

  • Enter the name and description. In the general section, enter the column which holds the location data. The other fields like category, marker and link filter are optional.

  • Now, in the format section, enter tooltip values, which are certain columns you need. Additionally, we can set marker types, theme, and colour palette for our map.

  • Hit save. The map is now visible on your dashboard.

  • On the top left corner, you can see the map legend. On the top right, toggles for labels and details are visible.

  • On clicking on a location, we can see the tooltip values displayed.

  • Suppose we have multiple locations in a particular area. Now, displaying all the locations can make the app slow and clumsy. We can now cluster the locations together. You can turn on the cluster feature. Now, all locations nearby appear as a cluster.

  • Let's now navigate the "Drilldown" feature. Suppose you are having smart lights in an area. There is a particular controller for all the lights. We can find a Drilldown button right next to the edit button. Click there.

  •  Enter the details of the controller. You can see the location of the controller on the map. On right-clicking it, you can get the details of individual lights.

  • Finally, here comes the link filter. For this to work, you need at least a filter on the dashboard. In the general section, select the existing filter from the link filter list. Now select any location. You can find a button, "Apply Filter". Select it. The filter is now in place.
